Skills for work

When you write about your skills and achievements, think about what an employer might be looking for. The information from the you and your career pages will help you when writing this part of your CV.

Some skills are useful in most jobs:

  • Communication (this includes reading, writing, and speaking)
  • Working with numbers (using maths)
  • Being able to use a computer
  • Working with others
  • Being able to learn and get better at things
  • Problem-solving

Other knowledge, skills, and talents depend on the type of job, for example:

  • Being creative
  • Understanding how the human body works
  • Using tools and machinery
  • Using special computer software
  • Knowing about plants or animals, and so on
